Jim Rapoza recently wrote in his eWeek.com column, “Have you ever tried to figure out what a meeting was about by looking at the presentation slides after the fact?”
Increasingly, presentation slides are the primary record of information presented in meetings. How much of the content of a meeting is really conveyed by the slides? Slides are intended to supplement the presentation or discussion, not document it for later. In some cases, the result is merely cryptic, but with technical or financial issues at stake, misunderstandings can be less benign.
In Jim’s column, “How to Save a Meeting,” he describes how presentation slides are being widely used and misused as meeting documentation and how full capture of meeting content would be highly preferable.
