Quindi Debuts "Meeting Companion" at DEMO 2004

First practical PC solution for turning spoken interactions into reusable documents

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 16, 2004 – Quindi Corporation announced today the launch of Quindi Meeting Companion, its collaborative software solution for retaining and sharing spoken content, at the prestigious DEMO 2004 conference.  With this release, Quindi enables enterprises and business professionals to maximize the value of their costly investment in meetings, coordinate distributed or offshore projects effectively, and retain vital customer and internal knowledge.

Quindi Meeting Companion is the industry’s first practical, affordable solution for turning spoken interactions into reusable documents or “meeting objects” that are searchable, shareable, and complete with notes, images, audio and video. With a standard PC or laptop running Windows 2000 or XP, and an off-the-shelf microphone or webcam, such as the Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000, users can capture meetings and other live interactions with the press of a button, and package them as compact files that can be shared by email or server. While participants meet as they otherwise would, Quindi Meeting Companion software runs unobtrusively to record and index the interaction.  The software automatically captures slides, screenshots, notes and other data, and synchronizes the data with the audio and optional video, allowing after-the-fact viewers to see and hear the discussion surrounding the data. Viewers can play back meetings at up to twice the speed with no distortion, and can use the index points created by Quindi Meeting Companion to navigate and locate the important parts of the meeting quickly.

“The spoken content that flows through an organization is an extremely valuable company asset,” said Stan Rosenschein, Founder and CEO of Quindi. “Until now, there has not been an easy way for individuals and teams to save and reuse this asset in everyday situations.”

“Quindi is offering an exciting new class of products to the business market,” said Spencer Johnson, Director of Product Marketing for Logitech's Video Business Unit. “They are effectively leveraging Logitech's affordable, high-quality audio and video peripherals to help professionals enhance their productivity.”

Customers and Initial Applications

An early access version of Quindi Meeting Companion has been in use since September 2003, delivering results to energy, technology, consumer and government organizations such as Unocal, 3M, Amerada Hess, Model N, 1185 Design and Lockheed Martin.  Key initial uses include: sharing project information among distributed team members; capturing company knowledge such as brainstorming, designs, and specialized expertise; transferring detailed information between factory and field;  recalling customer input precisely; and sharing the “voice of the customer” unfiltered with colleagues.

Expertise Capture and Fast-Turnaround Training: “I did four interviews yesterday.  Using Meeting Companion, I was then able to review and create several clips that I used in a training session today. In the old world, that would have taken a minimum of days to do,” said Allan Crawford, Vice President of E-Business Development at Unocal. “I showed the software to several of my colleagues and they all want it NOW!!!”

Customer Requirements Satisfaction:  "In the creative services business, it is critical to us to capture the details and nuances of our clients' requirements," said Peggy Burke, Founder and CEO of 1185 Design. "We use Quindi Meeting Companion to recall a client's detailed input, and share it – in his or her own words – with the rest of the creative team. We love the product and use it daily."

Offshore Development:  “Quindi helps overcome time and distance barriers among members of distributed project teams,” said Carol Feigenbaum, Vice President of Marketing at Quindi. “This is particularly valuable in offshore situations, where time-zone issues are acute, and culture and language differences often pose a challenge. Meeting Companion not only helps teams share detailed information with context, but also helps people feel more a part of the team.”
